About us:
Our names are Jeanie Ferril and Mike Moore.
We purchased Hartford Products from Bob and Valentina Hartford in July, 2005. Since then we have been on a tremendous learning curve!
Bob and Valentina have helped a great deal but there are still many things we struggle with on a daily basis. We appreciate our customers' understanding while we are attempting to "get our arms around" the daily operations of Hartford Products.
In November, 2005, Hartford Products and Doug Moore purchased John Clark's laser cutter. John owned and operated Fall River Productions for many years and in our opinion, was instrumental in the success of Hartford Products. John set-up the laser cutting files used to cut the precision parts needed for our kits. He continues to advise us on laser cutting technology and with possible new products we are considering.
Subsequently, a sister company, Custom Laser Services, was formed. Custom Laser Services' operations are in Union Star, Missouri, a small town about 10 miles from our home. The operations are managed by Doug Moore, Mike's son.
This is truly a family operation as Jeanie's son, Jeremiah is learning the art of casting and the many procedures associated with mold making and prototyping parts. Jeremiah also answers the phones and is great help with the computers.
We and our families have lived in Northwest Missouri many years.
Hartford Products home and our home, King City, Missouri is approximately 80 miles north of Kansas City, Missouri, 30 or so miles northeast of Saint Joseph, Missouri on the Jefferson Highway.
Saint Joe, widely known as the start of the Pony Express and the end of the outlaw, Jesse James, has a rich railroad history. Saint Joseph was the western terminus of the Hannibal and Saint Joseph Railroad, (1847-1883). The first railroad west of the Mississippi River to reach the Kansas territory, the gateway to the frontier west.
One of the early H&SJ RR locomotives can still be seen at the Patee House Museum in Saint Joseph. The house where Jesse James was shot and presumably killed is next door on the museum grounds.
We both continue to cultivate our interest in early US railroads and railroad history with visits to early US railroading sites and museums.
We hope that you enjoy building Hartford Products kits as much as we enjoy making them.
Jeanie and Mike
