These trucks are a faithful reproduction of the D&RGW swing motion passenger car trucks used use on most of their passenger car equipment.  There are three versions of the truck resulting from modifications made to the bolster primarily.  In the original version, first produced in 1878, the bolster was made up of alternating layers of wood and steel plate and the wheels were 30” diameter “paper” wheels.  Within a very short time, the paper wheels were replaced with standard 26” steel wheel. To provide a more stable ride, a bearing arm arrangement was bolted to the top of the bolster.   In some cases a roller assembly was attached to the ends of the arms with a corresponding wear plate attached to the underbody of the car.  In other cases the rollers were attached to the car body and the wear plate surface was welded to the bearing arm. Later, as the wood in the bolsters deteriorated, bolsters with an integral bearing arm were installed.  Components are included in this kit to permit the builder to choose from either the original or second bolster version.
